I never did it, but I think you can using the mod gibbed. I don't know how, but you could download it and experiment.

What could be the reason? I used it to level up some of my gear that i wanted to keep. So not sure you can keep it. Think they fixed it where you have to play the whole damn thing over again. Started over with level 72 again. Then when got to certain point it ask again if would like to skip missions already completed. So said yes again. Then got to the big hole in Bloodshot. Quit and came back and back at the freaking beginning again.
